What is Quantum Break? If you ask Microsoft, it’s one of their major titles for 2016 from Remedy. If you ask some gamers, it may be 2016 first miss.

Quantum Break is an exclusive title for Xbox One. Its a third person shooter with time manipulation powers (sort of similar to Max Payne). But it doesn’t end there; it is split into chapters in which a 20 minute episode will play at the end of each chapter to continue the story.

Well first, lets talk game play. The game play consists of controlling time in which time freezes, stutters or speeds up to battle enemies or solve platforming puzzles. It also uses an automatic cover system. While you play the actual game, you are experiencing it through the protagonists.  Sounds pretty straight forward.

Now comes the interesting part. At the end of each chapter there is something call a “Junction Point”. This is where the television series kicks in. You now control the villain and given a choice to make, which then in turn reflects through the following episode. They basically give you two terms or titles and you pick one without fulling knowing what you are picking. This then effects the rest of the game for you may have a key character die in that episode or survive depending on your choice.

Has it peaked your interest yet?

Some feel that, although an interesting idea, it feels out of place. An interruption rather than weaving the game together. They do have some great actors in place like Aiden Gillen (Game of Thrones, The Dark Knight Rises), Shawn Ashmore (X-men movies, Smallville) and Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings, Flash Forward). Others feel it makes it feel like you are part of the show, a director of some sort. Either way we will have to wait until  April 5th, 2016 to actually play it. In the mean time here are some clips to the game.

Enjoy!!

I'm your typical every day person. That's far from the truth. As you may have heard from our podcasts, I am fan of many things sci-fi. I love video games and pretty much play everything. I also love amine. I am trying to grow my knowledge of anine so I always welcome recommendations. I speak 2 sometimes 3 languages depending on the time of day and I walk on water. .. at least I like to believe so.
